The flocks first field trip! Everyone is atleast 4 weeks now, so the great outdoors we go, and they loved it!! Also, slowly introducing our mini sheepadoodle to them (short and supervised) hoping our Archie can become a trusted guardian, herder and friend to the flock as they will eventually all be sharing a yard. We do still plan to have a separate fenced area dedicated to the chickens, but hoping they can free roam all together peacefully too, come the spring :)
This has been such a fun adventure. I am loving every minute of this journey ❤️🐾🐓

They're so adorable! They look very content outside.

My babies in the brooder are 2 weeks old today, and I'm taking them outside for the first time later. It was about 57F first thing today, so a little cool. But it's supposed to warm up to the high 80s later, so they'll be plenty warm.

This is my first ever flock, I am a little over the top with them. Very much first time mom energy over here with these girls 😂

Oh my goodness! Hope you guys have the best time later on today! How sweet :)

I totally get it! My oldest 4 were like 8 weeks old before I put them in the coop. They lived in my guest room! 😆

As they should 🥰
I know chickens are happiest outside and with a flock, so I'd never attempt to keep a house chicken. But oh my gosh the idea is appealing, lol. When we first started thinking about chickens, we didn't live in an area where we could legally keep them. And our neighbors were the absolute worst and would have reported us for sure. Then we moved and thought we'd get chickens that first spring, but life happened and it took us till we had been here for just over 3 years to get them. So to say I'm ecstatic after waiting so long is an understatement. I totally get how you are so over the moon, because I am too!

Mine are in the garage in a brooder, and we are converting our shed into a coop! I am trying to find a healthy balance because I know chickens are considered wild critters, and I don’t want to domesticate them too much, but I definitely want them to know us and be comfortable around us. A little spoiling is warranted. I see them as serving a purpose, but they feel like family too. ESP since they’re not meat chickens. If we ever do meat birds that relationship will be different I imagine.
That’s great that you’re finally able to have them where you are! We too have had to wait a couple years, so I am definitely on a high with this journey lol
