first flock block

Hello all hope everyone is doing good. My wife tried to make our first flock block.she went by a recipe except she added a couple extra things.once it was baked and after it cooled it still had a little sponge to it and when picked up ot just fell apart.Any ideas what happened ? how to make it stay together better and harder?

Hmmm l, could you share the recipe to trouble shoot? It sounds like like not enough structure or binder.

Sorry for delay i cannot find her written recepie i know it was there food rasiens boss she added some scratch cracked corn there was a bit of flour a cup of molasses and half cup of coconut oil and eggs.

Hmm, back off on the coconut oil and possible add more feed/eggs.

Agree that you need more binding, like some flour or oats - if the extras she included added more moisture, you'd have offset that accordingly. Otherwise, maybe it was too thick, and didn't bake long enough? Sounds like Lisa Steele's recipe, and her instructions say to make it 2" thick. I keep saying I'm going to try one of those - one of these days!
