Day 10 with our 5 hens and 1 rooster. at 5:00pm we opened the door expected them to all make a run for it but they scratched around a little and would not go out the open gate. i threw some worm treats out the door, and finally one came out, then two. our rhode island read and red sexlink went into the nearby bushes and started squawking. the RIR found a small snake, and all the hens wanted it. it was very very cool. our first action outside the coop. they never wandered very far and came back after a short while. i guess they like their fenced in pen. 
dusk happens at 8:00 so we wanted plenty of time to search the woods for them. lol. not necessary.
