We've had chickens for years and in the past we've had ducks, however the three American Buff goslings arriving next week will be our first geese. Is there anything nutritional or healthwise we should know? Does any one here have this kind of goose? What are they like?

Hi Oatbucket. At the top of this page is the SEARCH. Type in American Buss and you´ll find some threads, info, etc. An active member at the moment with american Buffs is Flockman. Hope you find it all.

I just want to say thank you so much for the suggestion. WOW, I learned a LOT! I just spent all evening reading a ton of threads. I do have one more question. In almost every thread people named certain hatcheries or breeders. Mine are coming from McMurray. Is there a reason most people don't get their American Buffs from there? Is there something I should watch out for since I've already ordered them?

Hi Oatbucket. I´m in Brazil, so I have absolutely no idea about hatcheries. Best to get on a thread that has Flockman, (I can´t remember anyone else who´s regular here that has Americans) and ask, or just start a new thread and ask about McMurray......

McMurray probably uses Metzer for geese as well as ducks. Check the box for the zip code they shipped from when they arrive. Metzer got some American Buffs from Holderread so they may be? better quality than some other places have.

Oh I didn't know that. Cool. I know they said the ducks and geese come from a totally different place than the chicks.

Anybody know what a Pullorum Certificate is?

A pullorum certificate is issued for birds that test free of pullorum disease and is necessary in some places if you want to show birds. For more info google pullorum certificate.
