I still remember that first green egg. My daughter had been picking up the eggs. She was 13 years old. I knew by her voice that it was something good. She said,"Momma, I have something to show you." And I went in the kitchen, just knowing it was a green egg. I closed my eyes and made a big fuss and when I opened them, there was DD, smiling and holding a pale green egg.......impressively large for the first. I think I was just as happy for that egg, as I was for my very first egg. My chickens seem to be on strike now, but lately the americanas and araucanas seem to have outlayed the RIRs, if you can believe me.
