This is about what I expected from my different breeds. It looks like a little from all the breeds. Are those light brown considered pink? I think my EE'r laid them.

There is one that looks like a yellowish brown with speckles. I think it's very pretty but out of all the breeds I have which do you think laid it? It looks like a wild bird egg. I love the color because it's unlike anything else I have and I want MORE!!

ETA: That is a large store bought white egg in the photo for reference.

First -- your eggs are GORGEOUS!!! Every one. I am betting the different one is a Wellie. I have five Welsumer pullets -- they turned 4 mos and started laying 3 days later! Two months before this breed is" supposed" to! I am thrilled. The eggs are beautiful, mostly - dark brown and some speckled == but one of them keeps laying what we call snake eggs -- soft ones, usually right under the roost, though I changed right away to layer crumbles and put out plenty of oyster shell, and even offer a daily dairy-based treat yogurt, or cottage cheese, or leftover cheese a bit past its peak.

Whoever it is (and I have a feeling it is our "Idiot" -- the one who always gets left on the other side of the fence, or who freaks out because the rest of the flock has gone to bed and she is too dumb to figure it out! This has been going on now for a month.

any suggestions appreciated. Sometimes the eggs break and I am worried they will get into the habit of eating eggs. I have a tractor I could segregate them into one at a time, to ferret out the culprit but I think that will stress them, and they might just not lay! I don't have anything as sophisticated as a trap next box, and they range the yard all day, with access to the next boxes. And since the snake eggs are usually laid at night.... Well, there you have it.

Will this tend to go away as they age? After all. they were not even purported to begin laying until 6 months! And they came from a highly respected breeder.

I thought it might be the Welly too, but it's so different from the other Welly eggs....I think they are on the third row.

Jeanniejayne - It probably will go away with age. I think we all have at least one "idiot" bird in the flock!!

Thank you.

My EE'rs were the first to lay and they are my biggest eggs for now.

A couple on the mid-left are slightly olive and I'd like to have more in that color range.
