First hatch!!🥳

Hi everyone! First off, I want to say a very big thank you to all the amazing people that have helped me through my first batch of chicks. Our first chick pipped last night and this morning she is out and well. I just had a question about what I should do now. Should i give her a bit of water on her beak to drink or should i leave her alone? She is shivering a bit so i put a towel over the box to let the temperature raise. Is there anything else I should do? Thank you all!

Provide the chicks with food and water. The water should be VERY shallow, so they have a lesser chance of drowning. They should be able to find the water if it's not too dark. If you'd like, dip each of the chicks' beaks into the water very carefully - that helps them remember where it is, then they teach each other

She is shivering a bit so i put a towel over the box to let the temperature raise.

She shouldn't be shivering. Do you have a brooder set up?

You need a heat lamp if you don't have one.

They should have about 95F the first day they are out.
Did you pull the chick from the incubator before the others hatched?
It doesn't need water yet. Food is good.

okay got it! she is in the incubator but i raised to temperature to 100 F and shes good now. shes starting to walk here a picture!!

I don't have a brooder set up, I plan to keep them in the backyard coop with the doors shut up with a heat lamp. It stays pretty warm in there. We will have to find a different place for our hens, im going to keep them in a box in the garage with a heat lamp for the first 2 weeks till they get a little bit stronger. the others havent hatched or pipped yet. should i expect to hatch soon since shes out and about??

Yes, you should expect the rest to hatch soon -- if they are alive. Sometimes, out of a whole batch of eggs, only one chick hatches. It's disappointing, but it happens. And it could very well happen in your case.
How many eggs are left in the incubator/under the broody hen?

Don't mess with the temperature while the other eggs are in the incubator. That lowers the chance for the other eggs to hatch.

Take the chick out of the incubator and set it up in a "brooder". A brooder could be, like you described, a "box in the garage with a heat lamp" and food and water.

What was the temperature in the incubator originally? It should have been 100 degrees F the entire incubation process.
