Hi all, just wanted to let you all in on my first batch of attempting to hatch eggs. I struggled to maintain a good constant temp between day and night until i realized my programmable thermostat for the house heat was throwing the LG for loops!

I then purchase a cheap PID controller after giving up on programing an arduino ( had too much fluctuation between high and low. it would go from 102 to 95 and back over and over. i will keep trying, but my code is not good enough to work yet)

Anyway, today is either day 22 or 21 ( if you count putting them in the bator as day 0). So we shall see. Hopefully things work out. One of my "mutt" eggs from my own stock i could actually see squirming around last night. very cool!

Thanks,

Cam

PS: I ordered a hovabator and it took 4 days longer to ship than i anticipated so I ended up buying an LG on sale at TSC. I will probably sell the LG. and then use my hovabator as a bator and build a hatcher for easy clean up.

Essayons!

Thanks. I was getting pretty discouraged last night since I thought yesterday was the kick-off.

If these hatch well it will be a testament to natural selection and the durability of any random chicken egg. I've had quite a hard time learning quirks about the LG, the hovabator less so. I just hope temp peaks/valleys weren't too extreme nor did they last too long and will cause issues.

Still pretty cool to be able to do this in my basement however.

I built a brooder out of a fooseball table that the previous owner of my house ( we moved in right after I graduated last May) had left behind.

I'll get a pic up later today and hopefully pics of chicks!
