First hatch from a broody hen.

Hi, The first chick hatched from my first broody hen and shes not sitting on it, she moved it away from her and Im not sure if this is normal or what. It just hatched a few hours ago and seems fine but Im afraid itll die if it stays where it is now.

There's probably something wrong with the chick that only momma knows.
You can get the chick and raise it in a brooder yourself, but you'll probably see that it will develope some abnormality or just die on its own later.

thx for the input, thats pretty much what I was thinking. Im surprised any hatched at all she got off the eggs for a whole day last week. I was gonna take em and throw them all away today and give her some chicks I hatched in the incubator, was a real surprise to see the little one.

Shes sitting on the little guy now, I have no idea whats going on.

O well, it was dead and she was trying to eat it, at least thats what it looked like.

I tried putting some chicks I hatched out under her and for a few minutes she seemed fine with it then for no apparent reason she started to try and kill them all. I think shes just a bad mother.
