So fascinating to watch. I believe these two that are hatching are Black Copper Maran x Speckled Sussex. Anybody have a photo of what that cross looks like as an adult?
I do have a question. These guys jammed one of the half shells over the fat end of a smaller egg, covering the area that has been pipped. Would you take them out and pull that shell sheath off the other one or should I leave it?
4 out now. Looks like the Black Copper Maran egg has pipped. As you can see in that second photo, the "egg sheath" is still jammed over the other egg that has pipped. I am resisting temptation to move these 4 to the brooder. How long should I wait? Until the full end of Day 21, or until 24 hours after the first chick hatched?
