Well I put 8 eggs into a Hova Bator 1583 on May 3rd.
The eggs were from my Buff Orpingtons that I purchased from My Pet Chicken last July. I ordered four pullets but one turned out to be a rooster. I didn't think I would have very good sucess but I read this board and followed all the great advice and "Sweet Niblets"! I now have 6 little Orps running around. One egg was infertile, I guess, it was clear when I candled on the 18th day. One egg is still in the incubator and has pipped. I grabbed this last egg out of the frig. at the last minute just to make a total of 8, don't know why but 8 sounded like a good number. So I am thinking that because it was cold when I put it into the incubator that pipping about 12 hours behind the others is to be expected.
I don't know how to post pictures and everybody knows what little BO's look like so I guess I won't do that, but I wanted to say thanks to all the people that post so often and provide such and education to the rest of us.
I don't post much but I read many of the boards everyday and I know there are a lot of others like me. So thanks again
Edited to add that the last egg just hatched so that is seven out of eight with one infertile.
Now what will I do with 7 more chickens. Oh Lord!
