We had 13 chicks hatch over the weekend. All survived! ya
But, there are still 11 eggs in the bator, and not a single pip (this is now day 23)! We collected the eggs over a period of 4 or 5 days, so I'm not sure if that is making a difference. However, when candling the eggs it seemed like they were all developing well and moving around an such. So I'm a bit surprised that we've now had a lull in the action. If we had a few pips by now at least, I'd feel better about it.
We are running a homemade incubator with a fan, yet I noticed that most of the eggs that are still unhatched were in the area of the bator that is farther away from the heat source (yet I have thermometers in both areas and they don't show much difference in temp. Maybe it is just coincidence.
This is our first hatch, so maybe this is not that unusual?? I'm hoping that we get some pips soon. Any reassuring words? Or does it not look good for the remaining 11? hmm
