I already have what seems to be an ever expanding flock; however, the largest portion are Silkies which I’m hoping to breed. With that being said, I figured I was already that far in, so let’s get set up for incubating. I had 6 hatching eggs and was blessed with 3 little miracles yesterday (… there was absolutely NO movement of ANY kind on Saturday when I candled at day 23 or difference in air cell from day 18… I was just giving them a few more days because I didn’t want to have a complete loss, even though I know it happens).

I’m an elementary teacher and thankfully yesterday was a workday because I was absolutely useless. I know I did something that probably will be frowned upon, but I wrapped up the incubator, plugged it in to the adapter that is in my car, and took 1 chick and 2 beginning pippers with me. Didn’t bother me one bit and one did hatch at school, which my students will get to name (yellow Cochin chick on the right). ❤️❤️❤️

Look how beautiful my Mille is becoming and how handsome my calico Cochin is… ❤️ They go on their first adventure tomorrow, along with gorgeous silver partridge Silkie, to school where the Cochin and the Silkie will get their official names. Like I mentioned earlier, the Cochin was hatched at school, so only fair to let my students name him.
