first hatchling

First try with this incubator. From what I am reading the other eggs may not hatch for a couple of days. This chick is either from my Araucana or Americana crossed with my Buckeye rooster. If the other eggs don't hatch for a couple of days when should I take out this chick. I had to open to take out the shell, because there just isn't any room in this incubator. It is so tight I had difficulty turning them. Just leaned from side to side as much as possible. Eggs were set April 14.

Let it dry off a little if you can, but if no other eggs have pipped yet and you have a warm brooder set up where it can dry off, it would be less risky to take it out now before other eggs externally pip (if none have yet). That way you could free up some room in the bator.

That peeping coming from an egg just makes me grin! So exciting!

I would not worry about drying the eggs look at that moisture!

How long do you give eggs to hatch till you give up on them? So far two have hatched a day apart.

my latest eggs hatched on day 23. Helping doesn't mean you would get a perfect chick. If I help at all maybe on day 22/23 I might just poke a top hole, in air cell area, If they peep I put them back in incubator, I may help them out a little at a time,spread out through the day. I like them to kick off the last of the shell themselves if possible. My last hatch I helped the last 2 through out the day, and left them in their egg mostly. They came out just fine, no leg problems.
