First incubated eggs

So on April 9th and 11th i decided to put into use my new incubator so i picked up 2 dozen americana/ee eggs i figured for 4 bucks a dozen wouldnt miss out on much if they dont go. Well just decided hey i should check on them so short of 3 that are to dark to really see thru they all have growth going in there i dont know what the heck i will do if heck even 80 percent hatch. Plus that starts the egg hatching addiction to see what i can get next. My next ones i want to get would probably be some standard cochin eggs. hehehehe and it just explodes from there.

Congratulations!!

My husband was DROOLING at the standard blue cochins we saw at a show today. I had to drag him away from them. He had that "oh look, a baby puppy" look in his eyes. He LOVES cochins! But we're sticking with our very spoiled seramas. My birds are indoor birds - I don't know if I could handle a bunch of diapered standard cochins in our house too! So anyway, I had to tell him no.

hehehe well he has his currant babies we got 2 baby ducks with our surprise package which of coarse means we need a few more so they have friends. they think he is their mommy. he brings them out and sits the on his chest petting his baby ducks till they fall asleep. I have three really cute standard babies 1 blue 1 splash and one black and a few more but those are my favorites.

Awww!! That is just the sweetest!! My husband just loves our seramas - our hen is always perched on his shoulder and he pets her and kisses her until she falls asleep. He has the chicken fever. It's so cute because I've been around poultry for like two decades and he had never had the pleasure of making friends with a chicken. Now he has a new best friend.

She even flies onto his shoulder when he walks past her. They're so cute together!!

Yeah my husband grew up in Chicago so really not a country boy however now he has 4 dogs 5 ducks a potbelly pig and oh so many chickens with more on the way.
I am looking forward to the chicken swap maybe i will find another group of crazy babies. We did just loose or favorite lap chicken

But i am hoping that we can get our groups going and find new friends.

We traveled to different states together and went camping and fishing and everything. I loved my naked neck so much and when she was getting older I just knew I could never love another chicken again once she was gone. Unfortunately I spent too much time blabbing about chickens and recalling memories I had with my birds, so my husband knew I wasn't ready to call it quits on chickens. He kept telling me "It surprises me that you loved chickens so much and then all of the sudden just called it quits". So anyway, FORTUNATELY he talked me in to trying to love some chickens again - and I do!! I just absolutely adore my seramas. They're my babies! They're so sweet. My seramas have opened my old withered heart back up to the world of poultry. Considering I'm going to school right now to become an avian specialist I suppose it had to be done sooner or later anyway.
