Sorry if I ramble, I just don't know how to explain my case fast and feel like I should give all details possible
So I have seven chickens all 15 weeks old [had eight but a raccoon got one :|] and they all get along great except for a little scuffle between hens every once in a while that lasts all of two seconds. Well I somehow managed to wind up with a Dominique hen when they weren't even supposed to be carried at Tractor Supply [where I got them] and we also managed to get a bantam rooster [just one bantam]. In all, five hens, and two roosters.
Well today, the bantam rooster jumped on the back of a lawn chair and my Dominique hen is very butch and likes to be in control of everyone [she even tries to crow; but we're 99% sure she's a hen, she makes all the hen noises, is shaped like one, and her crowing is awful plus she started a month after all the rest of the roosters and does it rarely] so she jumped in the chair and started a little skirmish with the rooster. She jumped up to peck at him and grabbed a hold of his wattle and when she came back down she tore a tiny piece of it off, and there was blood, and so she went crazy. The little rooster jumped down and she chased after him and our White Leghorn rooster did, too. The two roosters always get along great, sometimes a little too much if you catch my drift, so this was kind of shocking but I just figured it was because of the blood. So anyways, I got the little guy out of there, and separated them for a minute to see how bad it was and it's really not, but it was still enough to bleed, so I just need to know how to clean and fix him up and all that.
Right now I'm on a laptop in the run [they were free ranging when this happened] with all of them and they're acting like nothing happened, and there's been no problems, so I think it was kind of just an accident, but still, I gotta keep an eye on them until he's better.
So yeah, long story short, how do I treat a piece of his wattle missing? And after it's cleaned up can I put him back with the rest of them for the night since they're all calm now?
[I'd have taken a picture and shortened this story so much more and I'd have taken a picture of my butch hen to just to make sure she isn't some strange rooster, too, but I have no camera at the moment lol.]
