So yesterday I came home to find a bloody chicken. At first I thought it was dirt but looking closer it was dried blood. I took a picture so I could investigate it without her running around. I could not see anything obvious. I tried to clean it with warm water to see where the injury was on her face. I did not see any wound so I just put some hen healer on the area of her face. This morning I was looking at the pictures again and I think a piece of her comb was torn off! These are the best before and after I have. Have you guys had yours do this to another before? Do I need to put medicine more medicine on it?

My leghorns combs get bloodied all the time; they are huge and floppy and prone to injury from pecking / roosters. It doesn’t look terrible - I would apply a Neosporin that doesn’t contain painkiller after thoroughly cleaning the area. If you use peroxide, only use it once to clean it initially and then stick to the Neosporin. If you notice the other hens pecking at it and making it worse, I would separate her into a small dog crate but still in the coop / run so she can still be with the flock but have a chance to heal.

Ill try and catcher again this afternoon and see if I can get some Neosporin on it. I put the blue hen healer on her face (where I thought the injury was) and with her torn comb she looks like she's been a few rounds in the boxing ring. The only pecking I noticed yesterday was from the head hen (probably the culprit) while they were in the dust bath she gave Betty Whites injured comb a good tug. Not even a peck, a yank.
Thank you for the advice.
