First little bantam eggs!!

If the rooster is a small breed I think they would ok to hatch. Anyone else want to chime in?

He is the same breed so he is small. I just didn't think she would be ready to mother yet but I don't know. I was wanting her to hatch her own eggs...if she will anyway. I haven't really researched all that yet as far as the broodiness of bantams, etc. I do have 3 other pullets that are different breeds that will hopefully start laying in a few weeks or so. One is a lavender orphington and I've read they make good mothers. We shall see. It's all new to me still.

Usually the first eggs aren't ideal for hatching. They're usually too small, and sometimes the shell quality (even if it's hard) isn't ideal. If the shell is too porous it can let in bacteria. I would give her a bit to work out the kinks before you try!
