How old are yours? Mandarins dont lay until their second spring.

this is the second spring.....I need to be patient.

One of my three pairs is laying eggs and should start setting this week, she has seven eggs now. Another hen just laid her first egg today as well. Now if only the woodies would start, shouldnt be long!!

checked my nest box and have 2 eggs!!!!!Yippie....now comes the real question, do I take them or let her hatch them???Hmmmm

How broody would a mandarin duck be? I've seen sets here for sale (rarely) and they are in the $100s (So of course I decided I should wait on such nice ducks until I get better at being a duck mama.) Are you planning on selling the babies? I guess I would incubate them, at least you'd have a better idea of fertility if you hatched them yourself.

Mandarins are very good mothers. When you open the box they will stand their ground and kind of hiss at you. I would let the hen incubate the eggs, atleast until day 27, then you can stick the eggs in the hatcher if you please.

As far as people selling pairs of mandarins for $100, more power to them, i am going to sell mine this fall for $70 a pair plus shipping/box if i have to ship them.

Goodluck with your eggs!!!!..............Jason

Congrats!

I will be incubating them, as I can better moniter the humidity etc. Ive heard to put a call duckling in with them. The call duckling will teach them to eat, etc.

Mrs. Turbo :

Hmmmm, might be time to pass mine on to the next person and make room for more call ducks....lol
post pictures if they hatch.

You can sell tehm to me if you want.
