Well, I just finished my first (horrible) attempt at incubating eggs. I ended up with only one that hatched....supposed to be a blue copper marans. So far a very neat looking bird, and very social. Cant wait for it to grow and see what it is...roo or pullet.

Are you getting more chicks to go with her?
This is my first go round, so by no means know what I am talking about. The farmer I got my chicks from explained that they are flock birds and having a minimum of 3 is needed. If a hen is by herself, she won't survive. Hence needing 3 in case something should happen to 1 the other 2 still have each other.

Just wondering if this is true?

I tried to answer from my phone yesterday....guess it didnt go through
Yes, I have heard the same thing....and I did go out and get it a roommate because of that. THe ISA Brown is a couple weeks old...but was the best I could do age wise.

Well, they seem to be doing well. The Maran is a roo.....tries like heck each morning to crow. Hes getting closer. I think about one more week and I'll but them in with the rest.
