Crowing
Today was the first day I decided to let my 3 younger chicks 6 week old and one is 4 weeks, meet my 3 older. Before today I would bring them out during the day if it was warm enough and have them on their side of the coop with chicken wire separating them from the others
I must say I was quite surprised.Jinx my one eyed buff Brahma bantam rooster, who is usually very sweet and not aggressive at all, he is however the lowest on the totem pole, he was just mean to them.
Shelia my light Brahma jumped out the door the other day to check the outside out, and he came running over and grabbed her by her wing and just started shaking her, he had a very firm grip on her I had to really pull him off.
Today I put them out in the actual pen and sat with them all, my Hen Sally who is my oldest chicken and happens to be my very first chicken ever.. she is almost 4, she is the queen, a NH Red.
I have Bob my mille fleur booted bantam, and Jinix who I mentioned before. they are not quite a year, they were free ranging
Bob who is the top roo, and can be bossy to me at times, was excellent meeting them. I wasn't sure what to expect, he never pecked at them, but he sure did flaunt his handsomeness to Shelia my Light Brahma, I think he like likes her. He did not once show any aggressiveness to them. He didn't pay much attention to Maize my Golden laced Wyandotte, (I think she is a little too young or small yet for him) and he did meet Norman my Barred rock roo. and that went fine too.
Sally my hen, has always been very good at meeting my new chicks, she will give them a little poke to just them know she's the top lady, but she will watch them check them out and go Meh ok I am done, you are not old enough to free range with me yet lol
But Jinxy I don't know what to do about that little man.
They are a little nervous as you can see but they are getting a little more relaxed.
They are now back in for the night after their outdoor adventure
