Hello!
Last night my first batch of chicks spent their first night in their coop. (Clucky, Peep, Goldie, and Dot).
Needless to say, I was really nervous! I woke up a couple of times to check on them, and they were safe, and sleeping peacefully.
I woke up this morning and went out to open their door to the run, and they all ran up to me all excited and started foraging.
I just wanted to share how relieved I was that the first night alone outside was so successful. :yesss:
Now to drink a bunch of coffee to make up for lack of sleep.

Another week and I'll be doing the same thing!!

How old are they? Do they have heat outside? I want to let the chicks stay outside during the night, but I can’t bring electricity to their main coop.
They are 5 weeks old. :) It got down to 55-60 degrees at one point in the night, but they are all fully feathered. They did perfectly fine, and are still super happy!

How wonderful! You did good, chick mom, and you earned a nice long nap. 😊
Thank you so much! My heart felt so full seeing them peek through the coop window when I called out their names in the morning, and they came running out when I opened the door like "Ok mom we did it, now where's our treats?" :lau
