Well my 6 week old chicks are out in their new coop for the first time tonight. I'm freaking out! I'm worried that they will get cold, scared, attacked, eaten, etc! I seriously want to go sleep in there with them tonight! Crazy I know, but they're so sweet and young! I put sand in there, and they prefer to ball up together in the floor. It's a bit chilly so I've got a heat lamp on, but it's up high close to the roost, but they still prefer the chicken wad I suppose!

Because it's been so beautifully warm here overnight, I took a chance and put my babies out in the coop at only 2 1/2 wks. They did so well, right from the start !

But oh, I so understand what you're feeling, as I didn't sleep much , and got up a couple times that first night, to check on them. I even walked all over the yard with a flashlight, looking for any sign that there might be lurking critters looking for chickens ... there wasn't.

They slept far better than I did ! Now it's been over a week since, and they're having a blast out there, and it's so much fun to visit with them !

It'll be ok - and so will you !

Thank you guys... You have made me feel much better. I have done the security patrol with flashlight though lol!
