First of several....

Well... started my pen project this weekend. This is the first building block of what I intend to be (5) 10 x 10 pens, and a 10 x 30 Pullet pen. Along with a covered feed area.

Nice construction!

What type of wire is that on the front? And what are you going to put over the boards on 'ladder' side under the roof.

I'm worried about everything reaching (coons, possums) or crawling (rats, snakes) through.

Great that its in the shade, they will appreciate that with this weather.

I am using 2 x 4 welded wire. It is just going to be adult chickens in these pens. I have never had a problem with snakes and adult chickens. I will use smaller wire on the pens for smaller chickens. I also folded the wire under the bottom boards and extended the wire under the ground for about 15". this will keep animals from digging under. I can sell a dressed coon for $10, so there are not many of those around. Possums, well they just happen up on my coon traps all too often.
