First peachick of the season hatched

YIPEE!!

I got my first peachick of the season this morning! Second one is trying to make it's way out as I type!! What a great morning this turned out to be!! These two are our first two eggs of the year even. I put them under a duck (then moved to the bator after two weeks) to check fertility and sure enough... I've got the next five under another duck now and will pull them from her soon to put in the bator. How exciting! I wish some of them were from my opal hen, but she's just started to lay more recently (we got NO eggs from her last year) and I'm sending those out in orders for eggs that I've got. I'll hatch from her when I get some more eggs from her!

Excellent!! I have 14 peahen eggs in the bator now - 6 in one batch and 8 in the other and all 6 of the first batch are viable so far - due on the 17th! hope I get some babies too!
