I've been here for awhile now, doing research, studying, learning, etc, but this is my first post as a real chicken mom! Got my 4 buff orp babies about 2 wks ago. I am in love!!! They are so much fun!

They finally figured out to go up into the coop themselves about 3 days ago, and they're getting pretty comfortable, will follow me around the yard and don't go nuts when I pick them up anymore. I am so happy and the kids just love them! Just wanted to spread the chicken love. :)

Hi!!!! I am new here too! I have 2 Americaunas, 2 bantams, and 2 Wyandottes. They just went from there rabbit pen to a chicken coop in which I can walk into, my chickens come to me when I call them and will eat out of my hand and let me scratch them on the chest but do not like for me to pick them up. I too am in love! I grew up in the suburbs but moved out to the country and now we have 4 cows and 6 chickens. Thought I had 5 hens but it looks like I have a bantam rooster. i was going to rehome him but decided he will protect them from our barn cats. They are only about 7 weeks so I am leaving them in the coop until they get older, I want to make sure if the cats do go after them they can at least fight back. So far they just seem curious, but not stalky!

Congrats, that's exciting stuff!
That's great that your chooks are getting to know you! Buff orps are a great breed. I hope you have even more fun with them in times to come!!
Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D
