An update!
I picked up three 6 week old Muscovy ducklings this morning. 2 females and 1 male.
I dug a hole and buried a large tub. Put a few bricks in the bottom and filled it with water for them. Around the tub, I dug it out on a slope running back toward the tub.. and then filled it with gravel. That way, when the wet duck jumps out, they'll be standing on gravel.. and the water can drain and run away from everything else. I hope this helps some..
I also built them a house attached to the run with some scrap lumber. They have a thick layer of shredded bedding and seemed to be really happy with it. They're pretty good sized and didn't seem to mind the chickens at all. The lady I got them from raised a LOT of chickens and they had already been growing up with them. My chickens were very skittish of them, took a few nips and then went about minding their own business.
My most dominant hen carried on all day trying to crow (the most awful sound) to assert her dominance. I'm hoping that my drake can set her straight when he gets a bit bigger!!!
