New member here but not new to here. Last year my wife and I decided to get a few chicks from TSC and that started it all. lol
We wanted Bantams because of the smaller size , so we took all 14 they had at a reduced price ( a buck) apiece . They were trying to get rid of them before their next shipment came in. We took them home and setup a big tote all warm and cozy heat lamp , water-er , feeder the whole 9 yards. and a set to the task of building my first chicken hotel from ideas i got from looking around BYC"s coop section. While i was building the Coop oddly enough they started GROWING , outgrew the tote in a few weeks , so had to build a pen for them in the garage (was still to cold outside and they were not fully feathered yet). and in the meantime we lost one little guy. was a sad day. But anyway I got the coop done and moved to it's resting place , built the run and everything was great.
Fast forward to this last month The better half wanted some Silkies and it was chick time at TSC so we kept an eye out for them and picked up 6 (I'm guessing white Silkies , got a call from a friend and went with him to a local sales barn and found 5 black , 3 brown and 2 multi colored Silkies. Oh i almost forgot 4 Ducks :-) plus picked up an inexpensive incubator. Which brings me to today . for the last week or so we have had 1 of our girls go Broody and has been sitting on her clutch for a week now. BTW the first 13 turned out to be BEAUTIFUL Belgian Bantam (Mille Fleur). Anyway we couldn't decide whether to let her sit on them or try out the incubator , we opted for the bator (it's been running for 2 days and seems stable) so we went out and gathered the eggs and put them in there about 3 hours ago. crossed fingers. well that's all about me..... hi how ya doin? :-)

PS when i figure out how to transfer Pic's from my phone to computer i will post some of our girls and boys and thier hotel.

It's been two weeks and we have already decided 4 ducks are a plenty. Cute as can be and funny to watch (have you ever seen a duck try to swim in a chicken water er?) but Man are they hi maintenance.

It sounds like chicken math gone wild at your place! Glad you are enjoying them, there isn't anything much better than chicken (or duck) tv!
