First predator incident :(

About 24 hours after, both Pekins are outside in the outside enclosure and moving around. Not sure if they are eating or drinking but they are doing much better than I thought they would. Fingers crossed!

i know this is very late but raccoons that come out in the day are most likely sick (with rabies) so if your ducks are still alive then that's great but if you have any furry 4 legged friend i advise keeping watch (if nothing happened yet)

I did think about that too. I’m keeping them in the coop for a while and they don’t mingle with our other pets.

I had a raccoon in my yard that came in and laid in my shrubs in the middle of the day. After trying to shoo it away, it roamed the perimeter of my house and I finally just had to shoot it. Pretty sure it had rabies or some other illness.

Ducks don't get rabies but our four legged friends and ourselves do. If you think you have been exposed to fluids from a rabid animal, you need to see a doctor and get shots.
Absolutely! I wasn’t sure if water fowl could get rabies or not. I know bats are carriers bit not sure if birds can get it. I did have quite a bit of blood all over me from both of them but it was right after the incident.
