Raised chicks for the first time. Got them May 11 and just lost 5 of the 6. Three were in the yard and two I cannot find. What kind of predator might I be dealing with? Predator got into the run

o you see eathers? or anything that might help you?

Sorry for your losses. :hugs
It might help if you tell where you live.
And the approximate time it happrned.

Where I live it probably would have been a fox or a dog.
It was in Kentucky around 8:00

I lock my chickens up an hour before dark and release after 8 am. Most predators hunt at dawn, dusk or night to avoid detection. If your run wasn't covered and the predator got in and carried 2 off it was likely a fox or coyote.Dogs leave the bodies.Birds of prey can't carry chickens off and hawks don't hunt after dark

I hope the 2 that are missing are just hiding.I would search the area good and see if you can find them. The remaining chicken needs to be kept in a secure area because whatever it was will be back.If you checked her close for injuries and she's eating and drinking good you can return her to the coop once you have secured the run.THis could be a dog attack if 2 are hiding
