It was only 5 quail. I had to get rid of my excess males, I had to put them in separate cages because they were tearing each other up.. I finally got my husband to help. He usually does the killing and I do the rest. So I tell him I'm debating the various methods people use for dispatching quail. I handed him the first quail and he snatched its head off. No muss, no fuss, very quick. He said "I don't see what's wrong with that, couldn't be much quicker." So I tried the stand on the wings method of cleaning, but all I achieved was pulling the wings off. What am I doing wrong? After my second attempt, I just cleaned them the best I could and have 5 nice little carcasses resting in zesty italian in my fridge. Now I have to decide how to fix them.

He seriously just snatched it's head off?? Then you snatched the wings off??? I have no clue what you're doing wrong as I have yet to do it, but I'm thinkin those two things might be part of it

I hope I don't have much trouble...I did see a good thread on here about cleaning quail. I didn't think they'd be that delicate. Sorry you're havin issues...wish I could help!

When I processed I used a kitchen scissor to cut the head, wings, and feet off. And then pull the skin off. It worked good and was simple.
