I woke up at 12:45 last night and watched 8 quail emerge from the eggs over the next 45 minutes. I woke up this morning and have a total of 15! Yeah! I can't remember how many I set and I can't see which ones didn't hatch, the quail are running everywhere so fast...so I'm not sure how great my hatch rate was, but I'm sure excited.
Things I wish I had known about the new hatchlings...they will look like they are dying when they are born and apparently this is normal (all the rolling on their backs and kicking). Their feet are curled when they are born, but they straighten out after they wobble around a bit (I thought I messed up the humidity on the hatch).
Should I give the other eggs a bit longer to see if anything happens? I don't see any pips in the other eggs, but maybe they still need a bit?
