First Ringneck Pheasant Egg!! North Alabama!! New Year Egg!!!

congrats, typically Ringnecks lay in the spring, but since you are in Alabama it may not matter. Congrats.

Ticks~ one male and 2 hens the one I got in Oct, yes I know know I need more hens, yes I plan on getting more. But I had a wreck on the 15 of Nov and have not worked!!!

I hope to get my cast of tomorrow morning and might get released to work and then comes the waiting on the other persons insurance!!! since it was her fault!!


ETA: Did not get my cast off 4 more weeks!! "grrrh"

Momma said that the female had dug a hole and laid another today and she left it in the pen!! Does Ringnecks do well to be broody and atch eggs?

Yes depending on the hen ringnecks can be great moms! If she is sitting on the egg let her be. But that hole could just be a dusting bath area and she happened to lay it there.
But I'm hoping for broody pheasant!!!

she laid but momma says ( since I can't get down there) that she is not on the Egg we are hoping not to lose it but will leave it for a few more days! maybe to see how many will she lay before taking the nest to brood?

In captivity, I'd be hatching the pheasant eggs in an incubator.... someone with pheasant experience tell me if I'm wrong?

thats what I want to do but I can't get in the Pen to get the egg right now cause I have a shatterd ankle in a cast and AM using a wheelchair and the pen is not wheelchair friendly!!! I have her first egg and am turning it I will ask momma to collect egg to turn it to and let her hatch a few later is she still wants to, but I want babies!!!

Do you have a broody hen sitting on the first egg? Or is the first in a incubator?

first egg was gathered and it will go in the bator in about week, the hen laid another (#2) and that was the one I wanted to know if she would go broody I would leave it, momma is gonna move them from one pen to another so I will get the #2 as well! GPN

Momma went down a little while ago and sent 3 eggs in the house, do know how long they where down there cause she just seen one yesterday so may have both ehns laid today!!! Whoooo!! One is eeky with mud so I am about to go fry it!!! ummm!! the others will get but in bator soon!!

My 1st Pheasant egg to eat!! yummmmmmy! Fried with a touch of salt, on toast with ham and milk to wash it down!!! It was delicious , but I will have to go raid the litchen later! hehehehe Momma laughed at me when I took pictures of my plate!!!
