First Rooster

I just introduced the first Rooster to our flock of hens. He is around 20 weeks old. He watches over our 2 younger hens, about 15- 20 weeks old. But, he is petrified of our 5 older hens. Will he become a more of a leader as he gets older?

Yes he will win them over eventually. Give him time. He is not quite confident in his roosterly abilities yet.

Yes, think of him as a teenager in a family of mature women. Eventually he will mature and take on a more mature role.

This is a good thing; He'll mature into a more polite rooster because the older hens will humble him a little. Mary
