DK- I LOVE the apron! Guess what I am going to do tonight. Sew an egg gathering apron. Not that I ever get more than 8, but if I don't have good pockets... I can't carry 8!
Cute babies too.

I will be flooding the Bar and Grill with pics of my turkeys before too long... and my meaties when they get here!

I had a rubber egg a few days ago. I brought it in to show the kids (if and when we have them, they are usually already broken by the time I find them). Guess who dropped it. Right on the carpet. At least the dog really likes to lick up egg...

Ralph- Is your fixed creamette developing?!

Setting these and how ever many more I can get in the bator on Wednesday so they should hatch on Thursday April 22nd!! We got anoth blue one now but no more!! They better start laying an egg everyday for the next week to catch up. Maybe if I setup the plucker and kill cones they will take me serious...

Arrrrrrrgh

I lost my post! and now have to re do it..... I hate that

MM The repaired egg is not in the incubator yet will be on Monday or Tuesday. I like to set eggs on Thursday or Friday, but I am still trying to stabilize the temps in the new one for hatching....

Holms if you could fix that egg in that condition you would be a god on BYC!!!!
ROFL

I "built" new nest for Ethel and the girls. I made them out of cardboard barrels I got off craigslist. Each barrel was 2 dollars so each nest is a buck a piece... and the best part is they fit in with my redneck décor in the chicken yard!

Speaking of redneck did I mention how the gal today took the turkeys home?

She cut a hole in the end of a feed sack duct taped around the hole and the turkeys neck tied the legs duct taped the eg end of the sack and laid them in her fancy new cars trunk and took off with them.....

Here are the nests:

Thats how I butchered our ducks!! It is VERY easy to do!

Hi All: Yep, I'm a bit disturbed by your story Ralph. I admit it. I have still not crossed into the chapter of my life where I am okay with the killing of the animal myself....my poor husband. 3 hens had to be put down today for illness. All I can say is that I am keeping this man (my hubby). He is awesome and I don't know what i would do without him! He is a tender soul like me really but he knows that I am tenderer and he is taking many for the team right now. I LOVE him!

So here is the update:

The baby chicks who are now 5 weeks old, got to go outside of the brooder and their secure run today for the first time! They are growing so fast that they are really in need of more room. So I wired off some outside area for them today while my husband was working on the chicken tractor. It is done girlie but it worked. I watched and of course, a baby chick will find a chink in your armor faster than you can ever think. So before I had everything secure, I left them out and waited until they got out, then fixed that. They are stinkers. Here's some pics!

Sorry Jessica I did not mean to disturb you by the story. I was just amazed how easy this woman seemed to handle it. I am guessing it is a cultural thing or something about the way she grew up. I as you might have guessed am not the greatest at killing myself. It takes me weeks and copious amounts of adult beverages to work up to camp day. I was so relieved I did not have to do my turkeys.

Turkeys are so easy to become attached too and you have to raise them so much longer than CX's it just makes it even harder. It would be almost like me having to send Bert to camp. I could never do that. Bert has a home here for life unless he gets married and moves out.

Also even with my helping her put the turkeys in the bags it never dawned on me she would process in the bag like Holm said. When she left my DW and I even talked about how she was going to ever get these irate turkeys out of the bags... Dang we are naïve!!!

I forgot I wanted to tell you how great your birds look..................AND SAY WOW that's a lot of chickens.......

They looked happy...

And is that your DH in the top two pictures in front of the motorhome wearing the Ralphie Fashion collection of green sweatshirt with stylish black basketball shorts White socks and sandals??

NEVER take this picture down please. The next time my wife tells me to dress decent or no one else dresses like that I am going to show her this picture!!!!
