First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

My blue legged bresse eggs arrived very well packaged with no broke ones.
This is a breed I've wanted for a loooong time!!
Can't wait till they start to hatch.
This is reason for a toast!! (Plus it's my Friday)

I have heard it rumored but never confirmed before, people on this thread will find any excuse to have a drink!!!! Personally I only use alcohol for medicinal uses.

Me too absolutely only medicinal.

Bahaha! Only for medicinal purposes. And psychological.

Cheers Raisinemright! And to all my pals here at the Bar and Grill! (I probably need a drink for my allergies, man are they annoying)

My allergies are killing me!!! I need to be able to get in a whole breath and dry my throat and sinuses out! If I was a super hero my name would be oysterman today. And not in a good way.

We'll we are crazy chicken people. Doesn't that count as an illness ?? I am sure our spouses would agree !!
Lucky for me, my hubby is as crazy about chickens as I am. He has to be to do this egg business and all of the building and work involved right along side me. He is also on the bar stool next to me while Ralphie or Mountain Mom let me have a break from serving at the Bar & Grill here. He likes a stiff vodka and OJ.

Pictures of the turkey C-section my DW performed. Baby is doing fine, as is the mother.

Sorry they are so blurry, bad focus on my part. The poult was drying out and I had 66% moisture in the incubator. After 28 hours of no headway and the other 2 that pipped at the same time being out for a couple hours DW decided to do the C-section....

hi everyone, I'm for a stiff gin & tonic please.
Out of 6 turkey hens, 4 are broody, and 2 are playing at it. Bodies everywhere, stealing the eggs my hens are laying. Yikes! One pair have been tenderly passing a golf ball and an egg shaped stone back and forth between them for 2 1/2 weeks now.
Helen (a la helen keller as she is partially blind) is brooding next to a momma chicken with the 6 chicks. They steal her food and perch on top of her and she is so sweet with them. Last year this broody hen co brooded with another turkey hen. She sat on 8 turkey eggs 90% of the time, and Madge would swan in from time to time and sit on them with her wing draped over the hen. It was HOT there in the barn and you could see momma hen panting away under that wing but not giving up. Meanwhile the eggs didn't hatch so I snuck 2 poults from the bator under them one night. Then Madge went nuts and drove the hen away and took the poults for herself. No justice....

I just sold 10 MG chicks to a friend. I dare not raise any more for myself until we do the deed on a few when they reach 14 weeks. So I'm custom hatching turkey poults and BCM chicks for others. Wonderful to be able to continue my addiction but not have to manage the chicken and turkey maths....
My big MG MacDoodle and his floozies come and visit the chicks every day. They mosey up the hill, wander around the lawn where we have a chicken tractor and another cage for the smaller chicks in good weather, and he inspects the troops. He has such a funny cock a doodle - it sounds like he has a bit of laryngitis, and it ends on an up note - must be his Canadian roots.
Jessica, so happy for you that all your chickens have finally come home - well nearer anyway! Those videos are amazing!
Duluthralphie so glad your diamond encrusted creamettes have started popping out of that new super duper incubator! Those poults look great! And the C section - glad to hear it made it
MM, I'm sorry your turkey eggs didn't make it - I wish you lived closer, I'd send you some of mine!
Holmes how are the little chicks coming along?
Dandelioness good luck with your own birthing coming soon - goodness, that must occupy your mind somewhat!

Why does everyone have broodies except me??

Poor Poor me, my bad luck calls for a Mikes... (BTW have any of you had Mikes Blood orange?))) Yummy

It is extremely humid here today. 66% in the house 59% in the incubator..kind of backwards.
