It's been well over 100F every day for what seems like FOREVER. I am making ice constantly for my chooks. I am now officially tired of it. Like I am every year, of course...

Well Ralph, I think we need a sign on the wall at the B&G with all your new breed names!  They are great!

White Peacocks really are pretty!  We have a "neighbor" (they live about 2 miles away) that has them.  I always stare out the window trying to catch a peek at them with their feathers fanned out.  I almost creamed a deer once as a result.

I do the same thing. I have to pass this man's house to get home. I almost ended up in the ditch once or...... twice.

Alright, dang family is gone finally.  Did you guys leave any vodka for me?????  Hubby's brother got hitched finally, been 10 years and 3 kids later, and the whole crazy family was here.  Hubby and I think to ourselves, "they are here for the wedding so they won't bug us, right"?  Wrong.

We are exhausted and I will be washing 67 dozen eggs today, doing a print job and quoting 4 more as well as starting advertising invoicing for my biggest project of the year that beings on Sept 1. Lucky me, I also have 4 loads of laundry to fold, 750 laying hens to care for and my "proper" number of baby chicks to tend.

Ralphie, if you and MM drank up the vodka, I'm going to be really mad!

But anyway, the chicks are doing really well, starting to get their feathers and will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. These EE chicks seem much beefier than my two that I started with.  I'm thinking they may have come from better hatchery stock.  They have thick legs are are bigger than my sexlinks by quite a bit.  They are a lovely array of different colors and patterns.  I'm excited to see them grown.

My new layer group is up to 28 dozen eggs per day now, which is seriously helping the bottom line.  It's nice to have them paying their rent now!  Several dozen of the eggs are still small and I have quite a back stock of those but I have found a few friends that will buy them and I am helping a neighbor that has a CSA that offers eggs each week too.  I also give away a bunch when it is looking like important fridge space is being sucked up!  I sold 259 dozen eggs last week!  Pretty exciting!

Congrats!
