First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

My Slow growth Sasso's have gone outside today at 3.5 weeks, just into a broody coop with a run.

And my Buff Rocks have been adopted by a broody hen so that another thing I don't have to worry about

Darn. Lost my first chicken to a neighborhood dog. Got reimbursed by owner but the meatie was 7.5 weeks. Planned on processing next weekend.
I had let them (only raised 6 being new to them) roam around backyard since then dont go more than forty feet from their tractor. Lab came into my yard grabbed bird from in front of tractor door and made off with it. Family never heard a peep, just saw dog take off with it.
I'm actually pretty thankful that he didn't kill them all since dogs can have a big prey drive, and that my layers were still penned up. Been a LOT madder if it had been one of my girls. Pretty fond of them.
Glad owner manned up but one less bird in my freezer. :(

That's a better reaction than I have had from owners of dogs who do this kind of thing.
I have had a neighbor's dog come in and kill several of my turkeys right before Thanksgiving, then go on over to some other pens and kill a few chickens... I had 9 dead birds lined up in my yard when the owner came for their dog. Not only did I not get reimbursed, these irresponsible people let their dog back out to do it again!!!!!

Ugh. Now I know why SSS is so important to poultry owners.
