OK...I've seen Marans. Nothing about them show me that kind of build...perhaps something way back in the genes just clicked. I'd like to have it here as well as the Barred cross!!! Great looking bird.

I agree, don't see Marans in that bird either.

Nash, what comb do your slow broilers have?

Small blade. Its not barred rock. Its not jersey giant. Only two other roosters are a dark cornish and copper marans. All of those roosters have been sent to freezer camp. It is a copper maran over slow broiler. I'd bet the farm on it. Reason being two of the thrre copper marans had a similar build. Not quite as upright but real close.

Only one of the copper marans actually LOOKED like a copper maran. Th eggs had excellent dark dark color. But two of the roosters were dark,almost black and had a very pronounced upright carriage with feathered legs

Looks more like shamo or aseel than a broiler or marans!
Aseel and other fighting cocks are ancestors of the cornish/indian game, which are ancestors of the broilers. Interesting to see that their offspring looks like their own grandad lol
