I have to agree. I have tried the board deal years ago. I found a "deep litter" coop so much easier to keep ahead of. But to answer your question as I understand it, Imade the bottom plate of one wall about 2" higher than the rest. This allowed for a drawer track to be used for a sliding bottom. I used a old alum. sign as the actual poop board. with a 1/2"x1" wire floor. The drawer slides were screwed to a wooden frame of 2"x2"s similar to a quail or rabbit pen. Good luck...
Also you guys should use COBB Sasso cx. Or Kosher King/ Daisybelle and freedom ranger. Freedom rangers produce the same amount of meat in the same amount of time as the kings. COBB Sasso is a slower growing chicken for backyard meat farmers. I'm also a fan of COBB Avian48, which gives you eggs and is just as meaty as the cx (I knows others lay, but these lay like standards)
@Holm, In my pursuit of larger and larger(dinosaurs) I ordered some Malay, shamo, and more Saipan. I thought I was being sneaky...delivery date was the end of may. They called to tell me they ship tomorrow. Had to confess to the DW. I'm an hour from home working and I need her to pick them up. She isn't toooo mad. But I figured it would be pushing my luck if I told her I ordered 25 ducks.
I just think its pointless trying to prevent the birds pooping every where. I went as far as to put field fence ABOVE the nesting boxes to keep them from roosting and doing the dirty deed in the nestbox
A so called 'poop board' is only practical if the owner only has two or three birds and they stay in a very confined area whereby they spend a lot of time at roost. Otherwise let IT fall to the shavings and be diligent about keeping the coop cleaned.
