First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

DK they look great! Hope all goes well with CE and your strange neighbor. And with your farmers market stand!

When we process, we usually break the birds down, leave a couple whole, and vacuum seal. My DH really loves the vacuum sealer. And we don't eat whole roasted chicken very often. So it works for us.
My neighbor has a pressure canner so we are going to can some broth this year! Last year I froze it... it was a mess.

I have THE LAST PACKAGE of my CX thighs in the fridge thawing now. I guess we won't be eating chicken for the rest of June! I refuse to eat any other chicken.

Jessica- How is your hen?!

MM: She's still the same, alert but not improving. Hubby says he thinks it's time to call it. I just had so much hope that I can save them all! I am nearly positive that she is not ill just injured somehow. It has something to do with her right foot or hip. Unless she miraculously stands up on her own today....well, you know.

I'm really sorry to hear that Jessica. Just a reminder, and I know it's not necessary. Quality of life. You've went above and beyond what most people would have done.I know it's hard. I ALL WAYS pull for the under dog. You and your husband have my respect.

Unexpectedly find myself off work for a few weeks due to a change in medication. Gives me the time to start fencing the future goose/chicken run. Starting with an acre, that should have enough room to seperate the roos and hens while giving them ample room. Can't wait to get started.

I'm on pins and needles. It's day 20 for my broody and I heard tapping under her this morning.

Well I just went and bought feed at my local feed store then tractor supply. Feed store carried a non medicated 18% crumble made by M&G . 100#32$ then went to tractor supply. 50# chick starter 18% Non medicated organic for17$ and change. I have 4 embden goslings and two brown Chinese arriving the middle of next week. They will be the test run in preparation for my 30 chicks which arrive in July.:)

I was just searching and trying to find post from someone that out cx out at 3 weeks and we're fine unless below 40 degrees??? Is that right?? Mine are 3 weeks and cleaning brooder every day is a pain. High 50s to low 60s overnight. Tractor has a covered area. Putting bunch of straw in there too. 22 birds. Are they gonna be okay outside??
