First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

JR I heard on the news they caught a 10 ft gator in Ft Worth.

Any chance the gator was forced to move when you took the sign telling him he was in an alligator pond away?

Maybe he thought when you removed the sign he was being evicted and needed to migrate to a new pond.

On the Baby CX's front..

2nd night and no losses yet, (fingers crossed).

There was on little guy hunched in a corner I am worried about, but he looks fine, maybe I scared him when I came in.

They are now on a 12 hour eating period, then 12 hours no food. I have decided Monday they will get 2 hours in morning and 2 in evening, Tuesday 1 1/2 hours until I wean them down to 15-20 minutes.

They are so cute, it is hard to take their food away, but I know I need too.

Feed restriction is a pain. They look so hungry. CHICKENS not Gators. I'm hoping to be able to move them to the 4 x 12 outside coop in a week. I'm also gonna get some scratch grain to broadcast feed. Make them hunt for it.

Give them a small pan of grit, I use driveway gravel, a few days before they go out.

At five days I have gave them a pan of Gravel and mix a little feed in it so mine get used to foraging for their food because in 2 weeks the will only get fed a tiny bit in the evenings. I am talking about regular chicks I haven't got my CX yet. I plan to raise them to butcher weight and sell them which I know wont be hard.

Ahh,, I misunderstood, sorry. Maybe I should go swim with the gators.

I just moved my oldest chicks and Poults into the adult pen/coop. They are not happy and neither are the hens that live in that coop. For the next 7-10 days they have to live in the coop and run until they realize that is their home then they can go back to free ranging.
