I've Macmurray hatcheries Jersey Giants,white plymouth rocks,Dark Cornish, Cx,and one dark Brahma roo. My birds won't be ready until around December. Then I plan on trying some crosses. Gonne use the spiral clan method

i would like to talk about mixes using the cx has anyone tried this and what was the out come im specifically interested in jersey giants and cx mixes but anything would be of interest

What a coincidence! That was what I was going to ask about next! I was asking about Naked Neck crosses and other crosses for meat on another thread, and someone (Madison1) shared their experience with CX crossed with New Hampshire, with great results. I'm seriously considering doing this - trying CX x NH, CX x NN, and NN x NH. (And maybe Delaware and/or DC thrown in.)

Which brings me to another question - has anyone raised Cx chicks and non-Cx chicks at the same time (I want to say yes, but forget who it was - JRNash? duluthralphie?), I'm considering seeing if Ideal would be willing/able to add NH (and maybe Delawares and Dark Cornishes) to my Cx order in September. If you did, did you tractor them all together, or only separate and tractor out the Cxs? I anticipate that I would keep only some of the NH, Delaware, and/or Dark Cornishes for breeding, and would want the rest for meat, so was wondering if some should just be with the Cxs?

Understand that I will be trying to mimic the method described by several here with the Cxs- tractor living, with supervised free range several hours a day within a paddock (with overhead twine for hawk protection). So the others would have that experience if put together with the Cxs...

Just so you know I was told by many jersey giant breeders/ keeper/enthusiast that hatchery jersey giants are no bigger then the average rir.. It's only breeders who keep the true giants or sop jersey giants

Remind me again what you do, feed-wise? (My poor brain can't unscramble it from what other folks are doing after reading so many posts.) And per your pics, I am assuming they all run together, correct? Do you think they would all do ok in a nice tractor?

Edit to add: In a tractor with supervised ranging several hours a day, of course - not full time containment. I just mean secure tractor as primary shelter.
