My Jersey Giant rooster just started crowing,5 months old. He looks like he is constipated and in a serious bind when he starts. He hasn't got the hang of it yet.lol

New roosters crows are so cool. None of them get it right.

She also happens to be under the impression that there is a loudest Cream Legbar pullet contest going on. Geez... WAY louder than my crowing cockerel, recruits the other two pullets into the ruckus, and she goes ON and ON and ON and ON...

I hate to act like a SOP snob, but that is not a cream legbar. They have single combs and hens barely have any comb. I delayed saying anything because I wanted to check the British SOP's as we do not have one in the USA yet.

It could be a cross breed but not a Cream legbar. Sorry.

I have become the Orrock Twp expert on them since I now own 15 of the Greenfire lines.

Um, no, she's definitely a Cream Legbar (not a perfect SOP, but not a cross). She DOES have a single comb - it's really floppy - maybe the super closeup photo confused you.

My boilers are showing all the signs of bronchitis. Just started them on 800mg tetracycline.debating wether or not to destroy the whole flock. From what I've read they will always be carriers. Could really use some advice on this one folks.

You were planning your own breeding program right? Does them carrying it mean they will spread it to other birds and make them all sick later on, will they have a tendency to get sick over and over in their lifetime, or will they have their own personal immunities to it?

I ask that question because I know that in humans, we can carry things but never experience the symptoms almost like we have a tolerance to it. Another person may or may not be at risk from getting it from us. Just wondering if it is the same with chickens.

Then the other question is, destroy the flock as in cull the broilers now or complete their trip to freezer camp?

Wow, that is some comb, and it is a single!

None of my hens have combs like that, Theirs are all real small.

Jessica I started them on 800mg tetracycline, the initial panic is over
(For me) the boilers have a bare minimum of another 6weeks before I would even consider freezer camp.As for as the rest of the questions, I DON'T have a clue. The initial symptoms are red irritated eyes,then swollen shut runny eyes with acute distress breathing. Right now,none of the flock are showing the difficulty breathing,I'm hoping I've caught this in time. My work schedule coupled with the horrible weather kept me from spending the time I normally spend with them. I'm kicking myself for not catching this with the first broiler a week ago.
