Since I am so knew at this CX thing, I do not feel like I have the clout to argue this. I will just say thank you for the input, and I am very happy with the no smell/ healthy poo of my birds. They are very active, though of corse still young, so I guess time will tell! I do want to add barly though to lower the protein content more.

I think I can speak for a majority when I encourage you contribute your views as based on your experiences. It's a learning game for all of us.Some may have different luck or opinions, but I have yet to see someone mistreated for their ideas on this thread

just woke up from a nap,I was dreaming about chickens.lol

Yep. I woke up this morning thinking on the JG/CX cross. No idea what it would look like (white?), but I think it may have possibilities.

Also working punnett squares on a JG/BR cross, looks like by the F3 generation I would have homozygous barred males and females. If I can transfer the JG frame and size (or even improve on it?), could be a good table bird. Food for thought.

The Jg rooster I had was white with a couple of black feathers,he was the dominant rooster. Most of the chicks that I think are his are all black feathered. Out of 80 eggs there are 3 that stand out,two have a dusky grey colored down, there feathers coming in have a gray or bluish tint and dark legs, the other is white with very dark legs
