First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I have 7 toad eggs that made it to the hatcher!

I put Bert on a diet. I was feeling bad because I was starving him. BUT since I have been severely limiting his food again. He can do the nasty!

I have 2 toads in the brooder now, and are they ever cute and I hope 4-5 of these new ones hatch! I might be able to actually have a decent meat bird next year to sell!

When I had my NPIP inspection the USDA Vet was inventorying my chickens and she said "What breed are these?"

Talking about Bert and Bertha....

I told her they were "toads."

She said " Why do you call them Toads? What breed are they?"

I said " toads"...

Then I told her the story of how they became "toads". So they are now listed as Toads on the USDA forms!

@Cyborg I will, its one of the ones I've had my eye on since hatch because of its size and unique coloration

Ralph, you may not realize it but it's those little comments here and again that help us so much. You just pointed out another characteristic to look for.
