First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I'm new to raising chickens as this run of cx is my first flock.

Why prefer the skin yellow to white? Or Is it just the look of the bird you prefer?

I am with you on that. White birds are the sandwich boards of the bird world...Eat here!! Buffet!

That's how I lost my La Bresse !!
So it's coloured birds for me from now on.
My Slow grow coloured Sasso broiler chicks are 2 weeks now & will be adding some medium grow Ranger type chicks soon.
I have a choice of DC, Rocks, Ixworth, Wyndotte or New Hampshire to cross them with next year.

My first choice would normally be DC but they are not the best egg layers & I'm wanting a DP bird.
What you think ?

If you can find them, you might consider the Dominique. Not the largest bird but very meaty and are respectable layers. We are going to use them this year as well as Naked necks and a couple other excellent meat types. The Naked Necks have excellent meat qualities and are very good layers as well.

I happen to know where there is a licensed Minnesota and NPIP Hatchery that has a dozen show quality Dominque brood stock.....
