This is the very first silkie to hatch here, and I'm hoping for at least one more to keep it company . Mama went broody the beginning of January for the second time so I felt sorry for her and gave her some eggs. Of course we're going into another cold snap here......

Thanks! She's sitting on 4 more eggs and I hear one pecking but nothing yet from the others. I'm surprised that any are hatching because one morning I found her out of the cage somehow (a 4 foot drop) and the eggs were cold -very cold, but I put her back in just on the chance that miracles happen.

I can't believe this is taking so long!! Came home today to a pip and another one chirping inside the egg. So that's over 24 hours with only 1 hatch - not at all like an incubator where they all seem to hatch out within the 24 hours...
It's -30C here at night and I think I'll bring them all into the house so they will have a better chance of hatching and surviving.
