So last night was the first overnight slumber party in the big-girl house. Six 7-week olds (C. Wyandotte, EE, polish, bantam ee, bantam brahma, silkie). Silkie screamed bloody murder for a while at dusk - I tried to explain that she was just ringing the dinner bell for critters, but she wasn't hearing it
Of course, first night out there at 3am we have huge thunderstorms roll through
Anyway - all were fine this morning. But when I checked last night I noticed they were all piiled up in a nest box together instead of on a roost (sand in the house, pine shavings in the boxes). I assume it was a security (and softness) thing? Should I just let them go about their chick business and figure they'll get to the roost when they're darn good and ready?
The next boxes are about 4 inches off the floor. The roost is about 3 feet up (with a ladder, etc - they have all made it up there and looked around, so I know they know it's there...)
Thanks
