So, I figure that I should put eggs to incubate about 20 days before we plan to have the chicks we will buy from Farrs Hardware. They guarantee sex, and if you get a roo, they will give you another bird and take the boy back. I want to try hatching Swedish Flower hens, and can obtain fertile eggs on ebay. I am going to use this incubator:
Magicfly Digital Mini Fully Automatic Egg Incubator 9-12 Eggs Poultry Hatcher for Chickens Ducks Goose Birds
Sold by: Magicfly

I know that in shipping eggs, none may hatch, and in incubating none may hatch. Still, I am anticipating this experiment and have high hopes! In a perfect world, the eggs will hatch at the same time as we have babies in the brooder in our new Chick-Mahal brooder area, and so they can all get going together. Will I succeed? Will I fail dismally? Stay tuned to this channel for details!!

I'm doing the same myself again this year. I'm hoping to use some broody hens, so I have that extra factor of hoping I have a few when my eggs arrive. Mine aren't coming until May and June so I have a wait ahead for me. I hope you get a good hatch rate. :)

I hope you do, too! If none of them come to 'full chickhood' then at least I will (hopefully) learn from the experience and try again until I get it right! Please keep me posted on how yours are doing, and I will do the same for you!
